At Passover, God's people were told, "... eat the lamb that same night... eat it roasted over the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs." (Exodus 12:8)
At Passover during the Seder supper  faithful people share  bitter herbs as a reminder of  the bitter work during slavery in Egypt and God's saving them. this is one of the bitter herbs called "Marror".
